Missions Focus

Our missions budget of more than $180,000 goes to support approximately 65 missionaries and mission organizations that are committed to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.  The missions strategy of Johnston Chapel is to train, equip, and support believers in Jesus Christ who have been called by God to be sent into the world to fulfill the Great Commission.

The vision and passion behind this missions strategy is that Johnston Chapel must fulfill a vital role in reaching every tongue, tribe and nation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ so they can experience God’s glory for all eternity. We desire to effectively send and faithfully support missionaries throughout the entire world. We are expecting God to do incredible things through the Johnston Chapel church family to impact unreached and least reached people groups for His Kingdom. Because of this confident expectation, we have developed a demanding process of equipping our people to be sent out to serve in missions. We care deeply for our missionaries and believe that equipping them for the work of the ministry is vitally important to their perseverance and productivity.

To focus the hearts of our people on God’s mission in the world, Johnston Chapel hosts four Missions Sundays each year. These Sundays are set apart for our sent and supported missionaries to share what God has been doing around the world through their ministries. They are special days to celebrate missions, to honor our missionaries and to challenge our people to pray, give and go.

A missions offering is received each month to help with a special project of one of our missionaries. Past projects include the purchase of a truck for a missionary doctor in Haiti, the building of a Student Center at a Bible College in Bradley, WV, relief effort in New York City following the attacks on the World Trade Center, and funding for the Bible in the Schools program at local public schools.
